Varun is helped by his Father Pandit Ved Pujan (Kabir Bedi) and a researcher called Doctor Gayathri (Bipasha Basu) in his mission. But will this be enough for Varun to stop Bhuria? After her husband, Baburam Yadav, travels to Bombay to try and re-pay his loan to the local money-lender, Lala Sukhilal, his wife, Laxmi, and three children Sheila, Shakti, and Shankar, are on the point of destitution. To make matters worse, they stop receiving any mail from their father for months. When Sukhilal finds out about their plight, he offers to look after Laxmi and be intimate with her, but she refuses, so he decides to take possession of the house and property, and does so with approval of the local Panchayat. Laxmi and her set forth to travel to Bombay to be with Baburam and a ride from a drunken truck driver, Tej Bahadur, who puts the children in the back of the truck and lets Laxmi sit next to him. When it starts raining heavily, Tej stops the truck, brutally beats and rapes Laxmi until she dies. He also heavily cuffs young Shankar into unconsciousness, leaving him with only his cigarette lighter and the license number of his truck. Years later, a grown up Shankar and Tej, who is now known as Tejaa, a criminal don, meet again – and this time it is Sheila that Tej would like to have his way with.

Indian Army Captain Amar Kumar lives with his father, Ram, and mother, Saraswati. Ram has been associated with top freedom fighters during India’s struggle for independence from the British. Almost all of these freedom fighters had taken advantage of their involvement and have taken up important positions in India’s administration, and these include Jagrathan, and Mohanlal. While others like Vaisakh Ansari and Ram have chosen not to. Amar goes to Delhi and meets Mohanlal, who offers him a position of personal secretary with Jagrathan. Then a chain of events lead to the death of Jagrathan’s pilot son, Surender, resulting in Jagrathan threatening to expose the powers that-be unless they come clean and admit their involvement. Then Jagrathan is killed in a vehicle accident. Before dying he asks Dr. Shabnam to hand-over a key to Amar. Before Shabnam could do so, she is attacked by two unknown men, and wounded. Together with Amar and Rafiq Sayed Jaffrey, they locate the key – but do not know where to locate the lock. Then Shabnam is attacked again, but Amar rescues her. Amar’s world is turned upside down when he is accused of treason, court-martial-ed, and dishonorably discharged from the army. Disillusioned by this, he decides to join the very forces that are involved in treason. And when he does he finds out that he is not amongst strangers at all.

Pukar (Urdu: پُکر, Hindi: पुकार) is a 1939 Urdu film produced and directed by Sohrab Modi at production house, Minerva movietone. The film is about Mughal emperor Jehangir’s legendary justice and focuses how Jehangir offers himself to be killed when a washerwoman accuses the empress Noorjehan (Naseem Bano) of killing her husband in a hunt.

The movie is a typical Sohrab Modi production (which always seemed to be historical) with heavy and lengthy Urdu dialogues said in a loud and dramatic style. Story and lyrics are by Kamal Amrohi. Pukar is considered to be the earliest Muslim social film.[1]
Plot
Set at the court of the harsh Mughhal Emperor Jehangir (Chandra Mohan), the film tells two separate love stories: the first of Mangal Singh (Ali) and Kanwar (Sheela) amid the violent feud raging between their families, and the second, the famous one of Jehangir and Nurjehan (Banu). Mangal kills the brother and father of his lover. His father, the loyal Rajput chieftain Sangram Singh (Modi), captures his son and Jehangir passes the death sentence. Jehangir’s claim that the law knows no class distinction is put on the test when a washerwoman (Akhtar) accuses Queen Nurjehan of having inadvertently killed her husband during a hunt. Jehangir offers his own life but the washerwoman magnanimously forgives him.

Synopsis:-
The film starts off by showing Sitaram (Prakash Raj), and how he’s an important man in the village. He is an adamant character who always sticks on to his decisions. When the temple festival starts, Kaushalya (Priyanka) goes to her grandfather’s house to celebrate. There she meets Suresh (Vikram) and they fall in love.
Meanwhile, Sitaram gets into many conflicts with Suresh, not even knowing who the other was. All the things that Suresh did were unintentional but Sitaram doesn’t realize this. Therefore, Sitaram ends up with a very negative opinion of Suresh. When the day comes that everyone in Kaushalya’s grandfather’s’s home find out that Suresh and Kaushalya are in love, they try to get Sitaram (Kaushalya’s father) to agree to the wedding. He, however stubbornly sticks to his decision that the marriage should not take place. Finally Suresh asks him what would make him happy. Sitaram says that he would be happy if Suresh dies.
Realizing that arguing further would be futile, Suresh decides to go back to Madras. Kaushalya tries to join him at the railway station to go with him, but Suresh refuses saying “If I Marry you, It will be with your father’s permission and acceptance”. Whether Suresh is able to set the matters correct with Sitaram ? Whether Suresh and Kaushalya are able to marry ?
