In August 1994, news broadcasts announce that the ozone layer is fading, and will be completely gone in a matter of months. In Africa, millions have perished from the effects of unfiltered sunlight. Among the dead is Connor MacLeod’s wife, Brenda Wyatt MacLeod. Before dying, Brenda extracts a promise from Connor that he will solve the problem of the ozone layer.

By 1999, Connor MacLeod becomes the supervisor of a scientific team headed by Dr. Allan Neyman, which attempts to create an electromagnetic shield to cover the planet, and protect it from the Sun’s radiation. The team succeeds, in effect giving Earth an artificial ozone layer. MacLeod and Neyman are proud to have saved humanity, and believe they will be remembered for a thousand years.

Mistaken Identity Switched At Birth – BEST HOLLYWOOD MOVIES STARRING Melissa Gilbert

Mistaken Identity, an upsetting drama based on real life incidents, was produced by Carlton International and made for CBS television. In it, we are first introduced to Sarah Burlow (Melissa Gilbert) and Linda Wells (Rosanna Arquette). Both get admitted to the same hospital – Sarah’s delivery is scheduled three weeks later while Linda is in full labor at the time of admission. However, Sarah goes into labor on the same day, prior to the date fixed. She is rich, well educated and this will be her first child. On the other hand, Linda is uneducated, an average teller at a bank, single and lives close to the hospital. Soon, an unusual incident occurs – these two women give birth to two baby boys almost at the same time, an event which has never happened in this hospital. They are kept in the same room and though they aren’t quite like each other, they soon become friends knowing well that they won’t see each other again. After this, around a year and a half later, there is a shocking revelation – as Linda fights with Darryl, her former boyfriend, for getting child support, a DNA test proves that none of them are the boy’s parents. Following this there are a string of events which leads to Sarah and her husband being called in for DNA testing, which really makes them annoyed. They are informed about a chance of a mix up which is ultimately proved and the parents decide to sue the hospital for the mistake. In the meantime, Darryl starts communicating with Linda again as he realizes his chances of gaining financially. Linda gradually comes to know of his hidden agenda about the settlement. Just when the court is about to give its final judgment about the children, Linda, along with Sarah and her husband, sides against Darryl to save the children (her child included) from Darryl’s custody. This results in him losing the custody which is transferred to the other three parents.

Review:
“As an aspiring film maker, I like to research indie movies as much as possible. This one came to me as a recommendation on Amazon, and I was surprised with what I found.

IMDb says this movie was made with a two-thousand dollar budget and if that is true I am impressed as everything about it appears to be something with a much larger value. The lighting is questionable in some places and impeccable in others, and it comes as no surprise to see two cinematographers credited. Either way, the cinematography is at the least always interesting to see.

The acting is top notch, particularly from Christopher Cassarino and Martha Harms who, together, provide the greatest elements that the movie offers.

The story is bleak and somewhat cynical and the characters are mostly unlikable but the story still draws you in and despite your ability to really like these people you can’t help but feel for their plight. When story of two characters concludes by the end of the movie you feel the heartache with them.

A few minor issues aside, this is a real indie gem that marks the sure signs of a capable director finding his voice, and I look forward to seeing the content he creates in the future.

Storyline:
In the small frontier mining town of Warlock, rancher Abe McQuown’s gang of cowboy cutthroats terrorize the peaceful community, humiliating the town’s legitimate deputy Sheriff and running him out of town. Helpless and in need of protection, the townsfolk hire the renowned town tamer Clay Blaisdell, as unofficial Marshal, to bring law and order to the town. Clay arrives with his good friend and backup Tom Morgan. The two men stand up to the ranch gang and quiet the town. Johnny Gannon, a former member of the ranch gang is bothered by the gang’s actions, reforms and takes on the deputy Sherrif job while his brother remains part of the gang. The addition of the official lawman to the mix further complicate matters, leading to an inevitable clash of the cowboys, the townsfolk, the gunslingers and the law.

Review:
This is one of those little known westerns that captivates you from the opening scene. It has everything you want in this genre of film: a great story, excellent characters, excellent actors and beautiful scenery & music. I’d never seen this movie and came across it while checking out the cable guide and was attracted to the title because I’m a sci-fi/horror lover. I didn’t know it was a western. When I flipped it on, I noticed what kind of movie it was and almost changed the channel when I spotted DeForrest Kelly of Star Trek fame (I’m a devout Trekker). Then I saw Richard Widmark & Henry Fonda and just stayed tuned. I was taken my this flick and recommend it to anyone. I caught it in the middle so when it was over, I immediately went to the cable guide and searched for when it would be on again and made sure I watched it from beginning to end. WHAT A GREAT MOVIE! I also just ordered the VHS tape from Amazon.com. Definitely a MUST-SEE!!! Written by cdipatri.

“For me Sophomore was a combination of Dead Poets Society with a splash of Porky’s (both of which I loved) It was extremely well written and produced and some really good acting from the likes of Amanda Plumber, Patrick Warburton, Robert Keiper, Erin Foley and some surprising performances from the younger kids. There were numerous hysterical scenes that are not to be missed and well executed. There was a real through line that kept the film going and kept the audience interested and caring about the characters and their development. Nice to see something that was fun and entertaining.
