Qismat (lit. Destiny) is a 2018 Indian-Punjabi romantic drama film written and directed by Jagdeep Sidhu. Produced by Shri Narotam Ji Productions, it stars Ammy Virk and Sargun Mehta in lead roles. The film was titled behind a song of same title released year before which was sung by Ammy Virk and stars Sargun Mehta in its video. The film is based on a man falls in love whilst studying in Chandigarh, despite his marriage being arranged to another woman. The film was released on 21 September 2018. The film also stars Guggu Gill, Tania and Harby Sangha in supporting roles.
The movie encapsulates different shades of love in it. Qismat contains comedy, romance and tragedy. The film is written and directed by Jagdeep Sidhu, who had also written many films further for Ammy Virk. The film was shot in a single schedule of 45 days in Chandigarh and other villages of Punjab serving Jalesh Oberoi as cinematographer. Soundtrack of the film was composed by B Praak and Sukh-E which features the vocals from Ammy Virk, Gurnam Bhullar, Kamal Khan, Divya Bhatt, Neetu Bhalla and B Praak.
Theatrically the film was released worldwide on 21 September 2018. All the cast and crew received most of positive reviews from critics and audience alike. The film is believed as best performance of Virk till date. Music of the film which contains one the most romantic ballad ever also received good reviews. Commercially, the film is blockbuster and had grossed ₹30 crore in its theatrical run. Also, the film is sixth highest grossing Punjabi film of all time and second highest grossing Punjabi film of 2018.
