It was a weird stage of my life, to leave Simon & Garfunkel at the height of our success and become a math teacher. I would talk them through a math problem and ask if anyone had any questions, and they would say, ‘What were the Beatles like?’

Our country needs people who are maybe a little less focused on themselves and on the flash and a little more focused on how do we actually create a better environment for success for our young people, how do we get people back to work, how do we regain our standing internationally.

The recipe for success is a tried and true one here in Rhode Island – innovation, reform, public service.

When it comes to social consequences, they’ve got all different people acting in different ways, very difficult to even have a proper criterion of success. So, it’s a difficult task.

Success is not judged by just success in a particular championship.

Success is a very tough mistress. For years, while you’re struggling, she wants nothing to do with you. Then one day, you find yourself in the room with her, and even though the key is on the inside, you can’t leave.

Winning and losing isn’t what’s important. The attempt at success and getting to your best self is what matters.

Personally, I don’t like the term ‘success.’ It’s too arbitrary and too relative a thing. It’s usually someone else’s definition, not yours.

I work hard and do things the way they’re supposed to be done just so I can have success out here. I always want more.

It is the combination of reasonable talent and the ability to keep going in the face of defeat that leads to success.

Super-success is not for everyone, and you will endure weeks and months and years of hard work, obstacles, failures, victories, pain, and any manner of ‘negative’ experiences to reap the rewards of success, drink from the golden goblet, own the brass ring.
