“After attaining his qualifications in London and with the blessings of Lord Bertrand Russell, Dr. Gautamdas (Rajendra Kumar) returns to India. But then he decides to re-locate to Japan, which has been devastated by the explosion of atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There he meets with other doctors and also the beautiful Meloda (Saira Banu), who was educated in India, speaks Hindi; though now is Japanese. Both fall in love with each other. The movie takes on a meaning beyond a love story and comments on after effects of war anf Indo – Japan relationship as well.
