REVIEW: Jass Gill a.k.a Jassa (Sidhu Moosewala) dreams of going to Canada as a student and then earning dollars to create a better life for himself and his family. However, his family can’t afford the expense of sending him abroad, yet they take a loan and send him to Canada. Upon arrival, everything seems to be falling at the right place, as he easily gets a place to live, goes to college, and starts working. He becomes sure that he can earn money not only to pay his fees but for fulfilling the dreams of his parents. However, reality hits him hard when his employer refuses to pay him just because he is an international student.

As an international student coming straight from Punjab, Sidhu Moosewala did try to do a convincing job. However, his skills still need a little polishing and perhaps a lot of practice.
Further, the movie shows how people have prejudices against international students. They believe that international students are good for nothing and they only come to Canada to spoil the culture, do drugs, and do every wrong thing possible. Jass also faces discrimination on this stereotype and he lands up in trouble. He wanders through the streets homeless, but not hopeless. Destiny finally works in his favor, and he gets the job in construction. This is when he decides to do a course in building homes and builds a Student City, so as to provide a roof over the heads of international students.
This plot connected with the audience. There are many real-life examples of international students being discriminated against on various grounds; refused homes and jobs. Thus, we can say that the story and the narration hooked us.
Punjabi actress Mandy Takhar was also seen playing the lead role in the movie. She as Reet was seen portraying the role of Jassa’s love interest. Her innocent face and beautiful expressions melted hearts in no time.
In the movie, there are a number of other characters who played significant roles. For instance, there were students who mirrored the exact image that people with a bias against international students had. They used to burn the money sent by their parents on expensive cars, drugs, clubbing, and more. Thereafter, there was Jassa’s friend, Heera, who made sure to stand by him in every thick and thin, and also made him understand the difference between right and wrong. Last but not least, Jassa’s uncle showed us the image of the so-called relatives who promise to have our back all the time, but never live by their words
