About this video: This video is our complete guide on how to make a Minecraft server in 1.21.5. This video covers absolutely everything you need to know to get a Minecraft server up and running. This will allow you to play Minecraft 1.21.5 with your friends and setup a Minecraft server exactly how you want.

It is worth mention though that if you want the best Minecraft server hosting experience, we recommend using a third party host like SimpleGameHosting. That is because the Minecraft server you are creating in this video is only meant for your friends and family, and it uses your own internet and computer. Meaning you will need a good computer and internet connection. Hosting with a Minecraft server host like SimpleGameHosting means you don’t have to worry about this!

With that being said, if you want to want to setup a Minecraft server in 1.21.5, let’s get started! First things first, you will need to download the Minecraft server file. There is a link in the description above to download the Minecraft server.jar for 1.21.5. This will take you to our complete text guide on making a Minecraft server.

On this page, click on the “Download Minecraft” button to go to the official download page for the Minecraft server.jar. There, click the “minecraft_server_1.21.5.jar” link, and the Minecraft server.jar will begin downloading. You may need to keep or save the file depending on your browser.

After you have the server.jar downloaded, create a new “Minecraft 1.21.5 Server” folder on your desktop and move the server.jar file to it. Then, double-click the server.jar. Your Minecraft server will attempt to start with some files and folders generating.

If no files and folders generate or your get an error, you need to download Java 21 from the description above. You will also need to download and run the Jarfix, linked above, after getting Java. This will allow you to start your Minecraft server by double-clicking the server.jar file.

After you have the files and folders, you will have an eula.txt file. Open this up with notepad, and assuming you agree to the Minecraft EULA, change “eula=false” to “eula=true” and save the file.

Now, double-click the server.jar file again. Your 1.21.5 Minecraft server will now start! At this point, you can join your Minecraft server. To do this, open up Minecraft 1.21.5, and click on “Multiplayer”. Click the “Add Server” button. You can name the server anything you want, but for the server IP address, enter “localhost”. Click “Done”, and your server will now be able to be joined by double-clicking on it in the server list.

It’s that easy to make a Minecraft server in 1.21.5 and for you to join it. However, what if you want to play Minecraft 1.21.5 with your friends on your server? Well, in order for your friends to join your server, you will need to port forward the port 25565. Your friends will then join using your public IP. Luckily, there is a complete guide on how to port forward for your Minecraft 1.21.5 server in the description above. That covers everything you need to know to get a Minecraft server up and running in 1.21.5.

At this point, you now know how to make a Minecraft server in 1.21.5. If you have any questions about how to create a Minecraft 1.21.5 server, let us know in the comments.
