HOW TO MAKE ALMOND MILK | dairy-free, vegan nut milk recipe
Almond milk is a great dairy-free nut milk and it’s incredibly easy to make at home. It’s healthier than many store-bought options (no gums or chemicals) and all you need are almonds, water and a blender. That’s it!
The best almonds for homemade almond milk are organic, raw almonds. Almonds are nutrient-dense and have many health benefits. From there, you can add a sweetener of your choice, a pinch of sea salt and vanilla extract if you’d like. Enjoy!

How To Make Organic Bone Broth
www.stefanieo.com
3-4 lbs. of stock bones
1 gallon of clean water
3 stalks of celery
3 carrots
1 large onion
5-8 sprigs of thyme
2 bay leaves
1 tbsp. black peppercorns
3 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
juice from 1/2 lemon
sea vegetables (optional)
Roast bones at 350 for 45 minutes. Transfer bones to large stock pot and cover with water. Add vinegar and lemon juice and allow to soak for 1-2 hours. Roughly chop vegetables and add to pot along with bay leaves, peppercorns, and a good pinch of salt. Bring to a rolling boil, skim brown foam from surface, then reduce heat to lowest possible simmer and let it cook for 24-48 hours. Once done, turn off heat, add thyme sprigs and let cool. Strain contents before refrigerating or freezing.
How to Get Rid of Slugs and Snails and How to Make a Codling Moth Trap | Organic Edible Garden
The simplest way to rid your garden of slugs and snails is just going out at night with a torch and picking snails off your plants. Put them in a jar and dispose of them in the morning.
Another way is laying coffee grounds round your plants. Slugs and snails find it difficult to traverse coffee grounds. Coffee grounds can become quite acidic, so counter-balance that with a sprinkling of garden lime.
Yeast or beer traps are another option. For yeast traps, mix 1 teaspoon of dried yeast and 1 teaspoon of white sugar together in a cup of warm water until the yeast and sugar dissolve and the mixture froths. Pour into a recycled container or saucer, or purchase a snail trap which has the advantage of having a lid to keep out the rain.
One of the most effective ways is to find a heavy large pot. Stuff it with rolled-up pieces of newspaper. Turn it upside down on your garden and make sure you place something like a stone on one side to create an entrance to the pot. During the day when it’s light and warm, slugs and snails will crawl into the pot and it’s then that you empty out the newspaper containing the pests and dispose of them.
With a concerted effort you can break the cycle of slugs and snails and rid yourself of them!
The codling moth traps we make work especially well because they trap both the male and female codling moth, unlike the pheromone traps you buy which only trap the male.
Using a 2-litre empty milk bottle, cut two holes the size of golf ball on either side at the top of the bottle just under the lid. This is where the moths enter, attracted by the smell, and drown.
Make a mixture of water, molasses, cider vinegar, ammonia and dishwashing liquid and fill about 5-8cms in the bottom of the bottles.
Use cloth ribbon rather than twine for tying so as not to damage the branches. Choose two branches that you can tie the bottle between. This reduces the movement of the bottle.
Check the bottles during the growing season. You may need to add more water if the mixture evaporates.

A friend in England in 2001 showed me the idea originally. I also found to help refresh my memory, and then made a few of my own changes to make the swan look better and more attractive. I got the inspiration for using seeds as eyes in this video:
Project History & More Info:
I remembered someone showing me how to make an apple into a swan while I was in England in 2001. I can’t remember who it was though, and I just remember that it was a nice try, and although the wings looked cool, and head and neck were terrible.
I really liked the idea though, so I spent an entire day cutting up apples in different ways to see if I could make it better.
I also saw a video online where someone used apple seeds to make eyes ( which was really awesome, so I tried to incorporate that in.
I ended up with this method for making the apple swan, which I think really looks incredible, and we ended up putting them on display for some dinner guests we had that night.
