OK, to begin with, let me tell you the 2 reasons why the hiring manager will ask you the question; tell me about yourself.
Reason number one why they will ask you the question, tell me about yourself, is because it gets you talking about something you should know a lot about… yourself.
You will be the most nervous at the start of your interview, and giving you the chance to talk about yourself breaks the ice and it helps you to relax.
Make sure you practice your answer to the question tell me about yourself several times before your interview so you know exactly what you want to say!
Reason number two why the hiring manager will ask you the question, tell me about yourself is because they want to determine, early on in the interview, if you have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to do the job competently. If you don’t, the interview will get cut short!
