If you enjoyed this episode please make the switch to Patreon and catch up on hundreds of episodes only available to Patrons, help support our lifestyle so we can continue to love the dream here on the west coast of new Zealands South Island.
In this episode we are testing the spruce bruce out in a storm, it performed well, very well. Stable and warm, a few leaks from the alterations that were done, but I expected this to happen.
Also, the dogs smell a deer, first deer for them and they were awesome.
Also a primitive fire session using a bow drill and stuff
Primitive fire is challenging at the best of times, especially here in New Zealand as we have so much moisture and dry suitable wood is hard to find sometimes.
It’s a great skill to have but needs to be practiced for consistent results, as you can see I don’t practice much at all, as I usually take a lighter or 3 along on adventures.
Heading back into the storm for more tent testing, campfires, hunting and whitebaiting!
Grant dives into the fascinating world of deer scrapes and how they play a key role in deer communication throughout the entire rut. Learn how bucks use scrapes as signposts to communicate breeding status, dominance, and more. We’ll cover when and where scrapes are most active, how hunters can use this information to increase success, and why scrapes are more than just a hunting location—they’re part of a larger strategy. Whether you’re using grunt calls, hunting pinch points, or scrape lines, this video will equip you with the knowledge to hunt smarter this season.
