Ghee has a cherished place in our culture, known for its nutritional and spiritual benefits. With the growing concern over adulterated ghee in stores, making it at home ensures purity and quality.

Ingredients for Homemade Ghee:
1.5 liters full cream milk
½ tsp curd

Begin with 1.5 liters of full cream milk. Pour it into a thick-bottomed kadai and heat it, stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking.

Bring the milk to a boil, then let it cool until you see a thick cream forming on top.
Transfer the lukewarm milk and cream to a bowl, add ½ tsp of curd, and mix slightly. Cover and let it rest in a warm place for about 6 hours or until it sets completely.

Once set, collect the cream from the curd and place it in a blender.
Add 1 cup of chilled water and blend until the butter separates. If it doesn’t separate, add a little more water and blend again.

Melt the butter in a kadai over medium heat, stirring until it turns frothy and golden brown. Let it boil for a minute until it’s aromatic and the bubbles become transparent.

Cool slightly, then strain out any residue. Your pure homemade ghee is ready!

Ingredients for Tirupati Laddoos:
1 cup besan (gram flour)
½ cup pure ghee
¼ cup sugar (or a mix of powdered and grated jaggery)
2 tbsp chopped cashews
2 tbsp raisins
¼ tsp cardamom powder
A pinch of edible camphor (optional)

In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat ½ cup of pure ghee. Add 1 cup of besan and roast slowly, stirring continuously until it turns golden brown and gives off a nutty aroma (about 10-15 minutes).
Once roasted, add 2 tbsp each of chopped cashews and raisins. Roast for another 2-3 minutes until golden.
Remove from heat, let it cool slightly, then mix in ¼ cup sugar (or jaggery), ¼ tsp cardamom powder, and a pinch of edible camphor (optional).
Once the mixture is warm but manageable, shape it into small balls. If too dry, add a little warm ghee to help bind.
Let the laddoos cool completely before serving. Store them in an airtight container for up to a week.

By making ghee at home, not only do you gain control over the ingredients, but you also infuse your cooking with love and positive energy. These laddoos will bring the divine flavors of the temple into your kitchen!
