🔸Set up the Golu: Ensure the Golu padi (steps) face east and are kept in odd numbers. Plan a dedicated corner for the Golu in advance.
🔸Decorate: Draw intricate kolam (rangoli designs) in front of the Golu.
🔸Offerings: Prepare and offer neivedyam (food offerings) in the morning and evening. Offer fresh flowers to the deities daily.
🔸Prayers: Perform Mangala Harathi, a ceremonial offering of light, and recite slokhas (holy verses) daily.
🔸Dress: Wear clean, traditional attire.
🔸Visit each other: Women visit each other in the evenings to admire the Golu displays.
🔸Exchange gifts: Exchange gifts and sweets, such as small packs of turmeric, Kumkum, blouse pieces, a betel leaf, and a comb.
🔸Sing and chant: Sing devotional hymns and chant shlokas.
🔸Eat special food: Enjoy special food items prepared for the puja.
🔸End the festival: On the 10th day, symbolically put one Golu doll to sleep and dismantle the Golu display. Pack the dolls away and take them out for the next Navaratri.
