How to Make a Wallclock | Episode 5

Download

Head over to for Episode 6!

The main joinery for the clock and the panel all came together, and now we are ready to form the roundovers to the top and bottom pieces.

We will use the traditional method using a bench plane and, in our case, a #4 version. Following this shaping, we can focus on the final finishing of all of the components by scraping and sanding the surfaces.

After all of the parts are sanded, we follow specific patterns for gluing up the main carcass of the clock.

How to Make a Simple Picture Frame | Episode 1

Download

Don’t forget to check out woodworkingmasterclasses.com for a whole bunch of projects just like this one! Oh and Episode 2 is already out on our site too!

This is a uniquely different way to make a picture frame, but Paul designed it specifically to work with hand tools.

Sizing the eight components with the level of precision needed can be tricky, but two guides make the whole process quick and simple. We have dispensed with the mitres normally associated with picture frames altogether, giving these frames an assembly process and look you’ve never seen before.

It’s a step-by-step process with accuracy and we walk you through every step.

This is the last third of making a substantial kitchen utensil from solid hardwood. It’s a lifetime kitchen tool designed to develop your carving and shaping skills with substantive insight into how we must learn to work our wood according to the changing direction of the wood grain.

This last episode focuses on shaping the back of the bowl, and for this, we use different spokeshaves, saws, and rasps to get the shape we want for the best-looking ladle.

How to Make a Ladle | Episode 1

Can’t wait for Episode 2? It’s available now, for free here:

It may not be a large project, but creating a ladle from fully kiln-dried hardwoods like sycamore and maple differs from green, uncured wood.

Tougher to carve yes, but there is no shrinkage and no risk of cracking through drying. It is a wonderful project for learning to work with multi-directional grain and to also use gouges and such.

This is a great beginner guide for those starting with gouge work.

My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. We saw over 2,000 pieces of small engine equipment every year, and answer 1,000’s of small engine questions. We specialize in brands such as Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Echo and Shindaiwa, but work everyday on MANY other brands like Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Craftsman, Remington, Red Max, Troy Bilt, Scag, Bad Boy, Hustler, World Lawn, Poulan, Mantis, Etc.. Hopefully, my experience I share, will save you Time, Money and Frustration in the future!
