The Difference Between Crunches and Sit-Ups
For many ab enthusiasts, it comes down to a choice between sit ups and the almighty crunch. While there is a significant difference, many people have come to believe that crunches are just an easy way of doing sit-ups. That couldnโ€™t be further from the truth!

How To Do a Proper Crunch
In order to get it right, you must first lay your back on the floor– That line about the workout mat was no joke. Youโ€™re going to want some kind of soft cushioning behind you for this exercise. This way, youโ€™re comfortable while leaving your comfort zone.

Types of Crunches
The human body contains four main abdominal groups. The external oblique muscles, internal oblique muscles, transversus abdominis and rectus abdominis. The basic crunch exercise works your rectus abdominus. This is the most prominent of the four main ab muscles, and helps to form what is commonly known as the โ€œsix-packโ€. This is the type of crunch we already walked you through a minute ago.

How Can Crunches Help You Lose Weight?
Aside from helping you obtain your dream set of abs, many opt to do crunches when first attempting to lose weight. But thereโ€™s more factors that play into this then we believe.

I learned the splits in ONE DAY as a chubby, out-of-shape, six-year-old with zero cheerleading/dance experience. You can too!

YES, I’ve made videos on how to do the splits, I have a playlist just for splits tutorials. The reason I’m making this video: splits are a fundamental skill in flexibility training, performance sports, mobility, balance, stability, & movement. The splits are a very important stretch to learn. They serve as foundation for many skills, including jumps, toe touch, leaps, kicks, turns, flips, aerials, acro & cheer stuntsโ€ฆ They all require good hip, leg, quad, hamstring, calf, & glute flexibility & range of motion.

No matter what level you are, whether you’re brand new to stretching, or you’re goal is to get hyperextended oversplits…the stretches in this video are EXTREMELY effective, helpful, & important to practice! Despite having learned the splits well over a decade ago, I still regularly practice the splits at least a few times each week, for a few minutes a day. This helps maintain flexibility, improve energy, loosen tight/sore muscles, and overall helps with sports performance & movement!

Stretches that are good for splits: Straddle, Lunge, Pike, Point/Flex, Center Lunge, Split Push ups, Reverse lunge, Herkie and Hurdler stretch, Cobra, Hip flexor lateral lunges (side slider lunges), leg lifts with ankle weights on!
