The story of the film is based in the rural village of Godavari where Shiva (Karthikeya), who is a well behaved and cultured heart-throb who is raised by Daddy (Ramki). Guru, Patta, Dhana, Parthi, and Seenu are 5 childhood friends who live in the same area in from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Their main aim is to join the fire service and save lives. Until they get their jobs, they go around places dousing off fires and saving lives by themselves. Their actions are praised by the public and the concerned officials, including the zonal fire officer Narayanamoorthy, who promises them they will get their jobs if they write and pass the exam that is needed for them to join the fire service soon.
The night before the exam, Dhana meets his friends and is seen to be injured. He tells them that while he was coming back home, he was stopped by a man named Sadha and his friend and was slapped without reason. Dhana tries to move on from there, but Sadha doesn’t allow him and repeatedly assaults him. Sadha tells his friend he is an unstoppable don. So to prove his masculinity, he slapped Sadha. Dhana manages to escape from there after pushing Sadha away and escapes with his bike. Hearing this, the friends decide to teach Sadha a lesson and go to the place, where the incident happened. But to their shock, they see Sadha lying dead. It is revealed that when Dhana pushed Sadha away, he fell down, hitting a rock and succumbing to his injury. It is also revealed that Sadha was the right hand of ‘Puliyanthope’ Ravi, the city’s most feared don.

RED (Ajith Kumar) (Revolution, Education, Development) is an orphan who has grown up to be the local don in Madurai. Naturally, he possesses a heart of gold, and when not bashing up bad guys, he spends his time forcing schools to accept students without donations and taking care of orphans. Cheeni (Salim Ghouse) is his biggest enemy. RED falls for Gayathri (Priya Gill), the daughter of his friend and confidante Narayanan (Manivannan), and helps her without her knowledge. The story revolves around a village which is divided into half by Telugu and Tamil people. Hari (Naga Shaurya) gets dragged into it as he joins a college in that village. Bava (Allari Naresh), Ajay (Kick Shyam), Shiva (Vaibhav) and Purush (Raju Sundaram) are thick friends. They grow up together and share everything in life. While Bava is an easy going person, Ajay and Shiva are seen as more mature and responsible people. Purush is a comical flirt. Ajay is all set to marry his sweetheart Shruthi (Sheena), so the four friends decide to celebrate the last few days of Ajay’s bachelorhood in Goa.
While travelling to the beach paradise, Bava comes across Geetha (Neelam) and instantly falls for her. He starts trying to woo her but is not too successful. The Plot opens with a stray dog becoming a violent Alien-like creature, after drinking toxic fumes washed out by a scientific laborarory in Ooty, which then bites a security guard. The security guard turns into a zombie momentarily and starts a chain of human infections via bites.

Back to the present, Karthik (Jayam Ravi) is a Traffic Police Officer in Ooty who avoids all kinds of dangers as he takes care of his younger sister Vidhya (Anikha Surendran), who is in her early teens. Both are orphans but they live with Karthik’s Comic Constable Friend Chinnamalai (Kaali Venkat). He is in love with a doctor named Renuka (Lakshmi Menon) but never proposes in all their meetings. Renu is engaged and is about to get married to an NRI named Naveen (Amit Bhargav), who is also Cardiologist. Meanwhile, Karthik’s sister is kidnapped and is suspected to be attacked by the zombies. The police of Ooty decides to shoot the people who have turned into zombies. Karthik is also looking for his sister and also kills some zombies. He receives a call in which he is told to arrive at a place to find his sister. There he finds Renu and her group of doctors, including the chief doctor Dharan (Jeeva Ravi) finding a vaccine. Karthik also finds his sister and later comes to know that the doctors are trapped inside the house which is invaded by zombies.

Arjun(Nikhil Siddharth) after finishing off his exam waits at marriage registrar office for his girlfriend Ayesha to marry but Ayesha doesn’t come, and Arjun is left heart broken.Few years later Arjun’s friend Kishore gets mentally disturbed and he feels that he is possessed by some spirit. For treatment Arjun takes Kishore to kerala.while Kishore is treated Arjun gets close to a girl named Amala and gets attracted to her as he feels she is similar to Ayesha in terms of attitude. After kishore’s treatment Arjun is once again left heartbroken as Amala Leaves the place with out even informing him.Arjun goes after Amala to her village and gets shocked by knowing that Amala met with an accident many years back and the girl whom he met in kerala is not Amala.Back in Hyderabad arjun meets the girl who supposed to be Amala her actual name is Nitya(Hebha Patel) and gets to know that in the past Nitya was possessed by a spirit whose name was Amala and for treatment Nitya went to kerala.Gradually Nitya and Arjun get closer but at that time amala’s spirit enters another girls body and comes to Arjun’s house.Arjun although tensed maintains a normal behaviour with Amala. Gradually Arjun’s close behavior with Nitya makes Amala furious and emotional as she is possessive about arjun at that point Amala reveals the truth that she is none other than Ayesha(Avika Gor) the same girl whom Arjun was supposed to marry but unfortunately on the day of marriage she met with an accident and died on the spot.She says that she has saved a girl named Parvathi when she was attempting a suicide because she was supposed to marry her uncle which she doesn’t like and possessed her.After hearing all this Arjun feels guilty and sad that he couldn’t identify her and he tries to stop her but Amala does not pay heed to any of his pleas .Amala feels that Arjun no longer loves her and leaves Parvathi’s body after gaining consciousness Parvathi is unable to recognise Arjun and at this point of time Parvathi’s uncle comes there and beats Arjun. When he is about to kill Arjun ,Amala once again enters Parvathi’s body and saves Arjun. While in the hospital Amala gets to know from Nitya that Arjun is still in love with her that’s why he had said no to Nitya’s love proposal,but at this time Kishore with the help of swamiji from Kerala makes Amala’s soul leave Parvathi body and captures it.swami consoles Arjun that it’s against gods will for a soul to live on earth after death.A few months later Arjun meets Nitya on road and he finds that some of her behaviour resembles that of Amala and ends up proposing her for marriage . The film ends on a happy note.
