Tahthastu (2006): Poverty can be a direct abettor behind any crime, this is the basic tenet around which the story of Tathastu revolves. The plot is built around its central character Ravi Rajput (Sanjay Dutt), who’s an honest and noble man, but not very well off financially. His bleak financial condition is really put to test when his son’s taken ill and is in need of a heart transplant surgery which costs a hefty 15 lakh rupees. The hospital staff tell Ravi that they can operate on his son only when he pays them the said money in advance. Unable to arrange the money required, Ravi holds 30 people hostage in the hospital, and agrees to release them only if his son’s operation is underway at the hospital. Will Ravi’s act bear the result he requires? Watch this exceptional movie to find out!

A perfect plan by ACP Amar Agnihotri to trap Jailer Lankeshwar who is using some jailed convicts to act as hit-men for a fee, by allowing them to leave the jail, carry out their job, and then be back with a perfect alibi. Amar proposes to the Minister to permit a Police Inspector to be jailed, who will then find out the real truth about Lankeshwar and his convicts. Arjun Singh is the police inspector selected for this job, and he agrees to do so. A plan is contrived by Amar and his superiors, which will result in Arjun shooting Amar down with a blank bullet, and then absconding. This goes according to plan, and Arjun is apprehended and held for court. He pleads guilty, and is sentenced to Lankeshwar’s jail. While in jail, Arjun finds out that Amar has been killed, and he has become a convict for real.

Shyam is of an Indian-origin based in Mauritius, where he is employed. He meets with attractive Rukmani, the only daughter of a wealthy Industrialist, and both fall in love. They get married, despite strong opposition from Rukmani’s step-mother, Renu, and her brother, Sampatlal. Rukmani, although educated and of modern outlook, is prejudiced against untouchable Gopal and his daughter, Radha, who are very friendly with Shyam. Shyam would love to be a father, but Rukmani undergoes an operation to stop any pregnancy, and neglects to take care of herself, and as a result there are complications, and she is unable to have any children. This widens the gap between Shyam and Rukmani. An embittered Rukmani finds out that Shyam is having an affair with Radha, and swears to avenge this humiliation, even if it means sending Shyam to prison.
