The story kicks off with two dumb and dumber friends, Shami a courtmartialed navy officer and Kedar a Gujarati who has been denied a U.S. visa multiple times. Both plan to sail to the United States using a boat but, with a twist of fate, end up on the beach of Karachi, Pakistan. On realizing the truth they both try to escape, while being chased by an ISI Agent. Both get kidnapped by a local don Azher Baluch, who demands ransom from Kedar’s father and later releases them in a pathan colony to collect fake passports. But Shami, messes up with a bunch of pathans over an India-Pakistan match. In the struggle pathans both meet a Talibani militant, who takes them to a Taliban camp where they are misunderstood as Talibani militants.
A few days later, Shami and Kedar plans to escape the camp by stealing camp leader’s mobile phone, which was actually a detonator of a bomb designed by Taliban to attack NATO army. In attempt to dial a number Shami unknowingly triggers the bomb destroying the Talibani camp itself. Attracted by the explosions, a drone arrives and the two are arrested by American Army. After knowing theith are released. They go to Azher Baluch, the only person they know in Pakistan. Baluch makes a deal with ruling minister that in return for an election ticket he will hand over the two guys to him. The minister wants to take the credit of attack on Taliban by announcing both Sand r as Pakistani soldiers.
Soon the two are declared as national heroes by Pakistani media while the Indian media claims them as Indians stuck in Pakistan. Caught in this tug of war and are once again kidnapped by American army, who promises to deport them to India if they could give the credit of camp attack to American Army in media. They agree and are sent to Karachi Airport to finally catch a flight back to India. While waiting for their flight, notices a militant disguised as an airlines pilot. Seeing a possibility of a terror rescue, being backed by Pakistani army. During crossfire Shai and manage to overpower the militant and take off with the plane, finally able to depart from Pakistan. The movie ends with both sitting in the cockpit only to find a strange voice behind them (possibly another militant) suggesting them to take a left turn.

कुछ दिनों बाद, शमी और केदार ने कैंप लीडर का मोबाइल फोन चुराकर कैंप से भागने की योजना बनाई, जो वास्तव में नाटो सेना पर हमला करने के लिए तालिबान द्वारा डिजाइन किए गए बम का डेटोनेटर था। एक नंबर डायल करने के प्रयास में शमी अनजाने में बम चला देता है जिससे तालिबानी कैंप ही नष्ट हो जाता है। विस्फोटों से आकर्षित होकर, एक ड्रोन आता है और दोनों को अमेरिकी सेना द्वारा गिरफ्तार कर लिया जाता है। जानने के बाद उन्हें छोड़ दिया जाता है। वे अज़हर बलूच के पास जाते हैं, जो पाकिस्तान में एकमात्र व्यक्ति है जिसे वे जानते हैं। बलूच सत्तारूढ़ मंत्री के साथ एक सौदा करता है कि चुनाव टिकट के बदले में वह दो लोगों को उसे सौंप देगा। मंत्री दोनों सैंड आर को पाकिस्तानी सैनिक घोषित कर तालिबान पर हमले का श्रेय लेना चाहते हैं.
जल्द ही दोनों को पाकिस्तानी मीडिया ने राष्ट्रीय नायक घोषित कर दिया, जबकि भारतीय मीडिया उन्हें पाकिस्तान में फंसे भारतीय के रूप में दावा करता है। इस खींचतान में फंस जाते हैं और एक बार फिर अमेरिकी सेना द्वारा उनका अपहरण कर लिया जाता है, जो वादा करती है कि अगर वे मीडिया में कैंप पर हमले का श्रेय अमेरिकी सेना को दे सकें तो उन्हें भारत भेज दिया जाएगा। वे सहमत हो जाते हैं और अंततः भारत वापस आने के लिए उड़ान पकड़ने के लिए कराची हवाई अड्डे पर भेजे जाते हैं। अपनी उड़ान की प्रतीक्षा करते समय, उनकी नज़र एयरलाइंस के पायलट के भेष में एक आतंकवादी पर पड़ती है। पाकिस्तानी सेना द्वारा समर्थित आतंकी बचाव की संभावना को देखते हुए। गोलीबारी के दौरान शाई उग्रवादी पर काबू पाने और विमान से उड़ान भरने में कामयाब रहे, अंततः पाकिस्तान से प्रस्थान करने में सक्षम हुए। फिल्म दोनों के कॉकपिट में बैठने के साथ समाप्त होती है और तभी उनके पीछे एक अजीब आवाज आती है (संभवतः एक अन्य उग्रवादी) जो उन्हें बाईं ओर मुड़ने का सुझाव देती है।
