Makkah, also known as Mecca, is a city in Saudi Arabia and the holiest city in Islam. It is the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad and the site of the Kaaba, the most sacred structure in Islam, located within the Masjid al-Haram (the Grand Mosque). Every year, millions of Muslims from around the world perform the Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah, a religious duty that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime if they are able. The city has a rich history and continues to be a focal point for Islamic worship and culture.
