Synopsis :
Sajan Chale Sasural (1996) is a romantic comedy film directed by David Dhawan, staring Govinda as Shyamsunder Gupta, Tabu as Divya Khurana, Karisma Kapoor as Pooja Daschandani, Kader Khan as Dhirendra Khurana, Satish Kaushik as Muranchand “Mutthu” Swami, Satish Shah as Ram Pyare Rastogi, Mukesh Rishi as Nana, Anjana Mumtaz as Shyamsunder’s mother, Himani Shivpuri as Fake Shyamsunder’s mother, Arun Bakshi as Madhav, Arjun as Thakur’s son, Dinesh Hingoo as Travel Agent, Rakesh Bedi as Hotel servant, Bharat Kapoor as Thakur, Raju Shrestha as Shyamsunder’s friend.
The story revolves around Shyamsunder, a naive villager with a passion for music. He travels to the city to pursue his dreams and ends up befriending Mutthu Swami, a South Indian tabla player. Shyamsunder impresses the president of the TIPS cassette company, Mr. Khurana, and gets promoted.
On his way back to the village to repay his debts, Shyamsunder receives the tragic news of his wife Pooja’s death in a flood. He then marries Divya Khurana, Mr. Khurana’s daughter. However, Shyamsunder later finds out that Pooja is still alive and has to lead a double life to keep both wives unaware of each other.
The film is filled with hilarious situations as Shyamsunder tries to manage his double life, leading to many comedic moments.
