Nick and Nora decide to visit Nick’s hometown, Sycamore Springs, to enjoy some quality time with his parents. His father, a respected local physician, has always held reservations about Nick’s chosen profession and overall lifestyle. However, as Nick returns, the town’s residents, including a few from the local criminal underworld, jump to the conclusion that he must be there on a case, despite his insistence that he’s merely seeking rest and relaxation. But when a murder occurs right at his doorstep, Nick finds himself drawn into an investigation, whether he’s willing or not.
