Nobody knows the grit and glitter of Los Angeles like “Sam” Weathers. Armed with a black belt in karate and a wisecracking view of life, Sam, a police officer’s daughter, has a love for L.A.’s opulence, tempered with a knowledge of its lethal undercurrents. But things really start to sizzle when a charming stranger asks her to track down an uncle of his who disappeared 15 years ago. Her investigation throws light on much more: an elaborate drug-smuggling operation, an unsolved mystery involving multiple murders, and some political implications that could destroy a prominent congresswoman.
