Marshal Clay Hardin (Sterling Hayden) vows to avenge his fellow marshal’s murder. He forms a team with bounty hunter Reb Carleton (Zachary Scott) and Abby (Yvonne De Carlo). Tracking the killer leads them into Apache territory, where they uncover a plot to arm the Indians. A cynical gunfighter teams up with an elderly prophet to face off against a bandit gang vying for a solid gold stagecoach. The Stranger, aided by sharpshooter henchman and a deceitful postal agent, navigates a treacherous journey to secure the stolen gold.
