“Crossroads of Life” is an impressive film that tells the story of 25-year-old Sophie Conway, who returns home to the small town she once tried to forget. After losing confidence and becoming disillusioned with herself, Sophie searches for answers to questions about her past, present and future.
Upon her return, she is confronted with friends and lovers she once abandoned, and a relationship with her mother that needs to be mended. But the most unexpected and interesting aspect is getting to know Harry Pleasant, a patient with Alzheimer’s disease, who, although in a different context, also struggles with memory and attempts to remember the past.
In her journey of self-discovery, Sophie seems to stumble into Harry’s life, where she finds a reflection of her own struggle with oblivion. Through communication with Harry, she learns to accept herself as she is and to understand that the memory is not only lost, but also an important part of their lives.
