Prem is a 1995 romantic drama film directed by Satish Kaushik and produced by Boney Kapoor. The film stars Sanjay Kapoor and Tabu in the lead roles. Initially, the movie was directed by Shekhar Kapur, but due to certain reasons, he left the project, and Satish Kaushik completed it. The story is written by Javed Akhtar. This film marks the debut of Sanjay Kapoor in Bollywood. Both Sanjay Kapoor and Tabu play dual roles in this film, which revolves around the concept of reincarnation.
The story begins with Sanjay Verma (played by Sanjay Kapoor), a Navy officer who informs his parents (played by Akash Khurana and Beena Banerjee) through a letter that he is coming home on leave. Since childhood, Sanjay has had a recurring dream in which he sees himself with a blurred image of a girl, only to wake up startled. After returning home, he goes to a yacht club with the daughter of his father’s friend. The next morning, while taking a walk with his father, he comes across a place that resembles the one from his dream, where he sees the same girl, named Lachi.
“प्रेम’ साल 1995 में रिलीज़ हुई, रोमांस ड्रामा फिल्म है, सतीश कौशिक ने इसे डाय़रेक्ट और प्रॉडयूस बोनी कपूर ने किया है। इस फिल्म में संजय कपूर और तब्बू लीड रोल में है। फिल्म को इससे पहले शेखर कपूर डायरेक्टर कर रहे थे, लेकिन किसी वजह उनके छोड़ के जाने के बाद फिल्म को सतीश कौशिक ने पूरा किया था। इस फिल्म की कहानी जावेद अख्तर ने लिखा है। यह संजय कपूर की पहली फिल्म थी, जिसके जरिये उन्होंने बॉलीवुड में डेब्यू किया था। इसमें संजय कपूर और तब्बू ने दोहरी लीड रोल किया हैं और यह पुनर्जन्म की कहानी से संबंधित है।
फिल्म की कहानी संजय वर्मा (संजय कपूर) से शुरु होती है, जो एक नैवी ऑफिसर है और अपने माता-पिता (आकाश खुराना)-(बीना बैनर्जी) को खत के जरिये छुट्टी के लिए घर लौट की खबर देता है। इसी दौरान बचपन से उसे एक ही सपना दिखाई देता है, जिसमें वह धुधली तस्वीर वाली लड़की के साथ खुद को देखता है और फिर उसकी नींद खुल जाती है। घर लौटने के बाद पिता के दोस्त की बेटी के साथ जब वह एक जोशन क्लब में जाता है। जिसके बाद वह अपने पिता के साथ सुबह के सैर में निकलता है उस समय ऐसी जगह देखता है, जो उसके सपने में धुंधली सी तस्वीर वाली लड़की को देखता है, जिसका नाम लाची है।
