Abu Obaida, the spokesman for Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, delivered a speech after the ceasefire went into effect in Gaza on Sunday morning.
In his address, Abu Obaida confirmed Hamas’ commitment to the ceasefire and called on international mediators to ensure Israel abided by the agreement.
He also blamed Israel’s government for delaying its agreement to a ceasefire for months, and thanked armed groups across the region for their solidarity with Gaza.
Lastly, he assured Palestinians in Gaza that this was a time for rebuilding and unity as they recover from the immense destruction of Israel’s war on the strip and look to the future.
