Cowboy is the name given to people who tame, herd and care for cattle on cattle farms in America. The cowboy tradition in America comes from Spain, especially northern Mexico. In the 19th century, America introduced the cowboy culture with the purchase of Mexican lands within its borders. The English “cowboy” is the literal translation of the English “vaquero” clothes. Many cowboys herd cattle and horses, sometimes also cowboys who shepherd the cattle and horses of neighboring farms.
