Noor, a thirteen-year-old Kashmiri boy from a middle-class family, meets and becomes deeply infatuated with Firdaus, the daughter of a rich elite family in Kashmir that employs him. Firdaus’ mother, Begum Hazrat Jahaan, was left heartbroken in her youth and disapproves of Noor’s feelings to his low social status. Despite this, Noor and Firdaus grow closer until Hazrat sends Firdaus abroad for school, insulting Noor as she breaks the news.

Years later, Noor receives a prestigious art scholarship and moves to Delhi, where he encounters Firdaus again. By this time she is engaged to Bilal, a Pakistani diplomat, but Noor’s feelings have not changed and they begin a relationship. Despite initial friction with Noor, who by this time is a successful artist, Hazrat slowly starts to realise her mistake, but is still adamant that Firdaus should marry Bilal, and orders her against her will. A flashback of Hazrat and her lover Mufti, who left her pregnant and ran away with all her jewels, shows why she insisted on Firdaus marrying Bilal and let go of her love. Noor travels for an art show in London where he finds out that the art scholarship was given by Moazam, a terrorist he saved when he was young, and not by Hazrat as he thought. Upset that he has been merely a pawn in Moazam’s scheme and realizing that Hazrat has been playing him all along, Noor confronts her in London where she denies manipulating him and bursts into a fit of rage for her former lover Mufti and Noor realizes that she has been seeking redemption by breaking his heart. Noor goes back to the gallery and burns his artwork which was related to the memory of Firdaus. Another flashback of Hazrat shows that she lost her baby and Firdaus is her adopted daughter. She wakes up distraught and commits suicide. At her funeral, a grieving Firdaus opens her pendant to find Mufti’s picture in it with Hazrat’s and realizes that she could never get over her love for Noor. With this realization, Firdaus decides to leave Bilal and reunites with Noor.

Akaash Kapoor (Kartik Aaryan) is a bold and fun-loving young man, while Vani Mehra is a conservative but friendly girl. They are both accepted in the same college in Delhi, and after a series of adventures, soon become friends, forming part of a group of four. Akaash and Vani eventually fall in love and embark on a four-year relationship, which is kept secret from Vani’s traditional parents.

As their final year comes to an end, Akaash decides to go to the UK for his further studies. Vani returns to her hometown Dehradun to attend her sister’s wedding, after which she plans to study for an M.B.A. She tells her sister about her relationship with Akaash, but her sister reacts negatively, saying that their parents would not approve. The next day, amidst the wedding preparation, Vani finds out that her sister has eloped with another man, who she was in love with but was not accepted by her parents. Vani’s parents are heartbroken and have to endure the shame of their neighbours and community. In the fear of society’s response, they decide to get Vani married to the son of an acquaintance. Pressured by her parents and feeling guilt over her sister’s actions, Vani reluctantly agrees. She emotionally ends things with Akaash via a phone call and requests him not to try and meet her. Akaash is devastated but slowly becomes bitter and detached with time.

Vani’s husband Ravi Sinha (Sunny Singh) is a charming but controlling man who pressures Vani to have sex, despite her reluctance. Ravi is emotionally abusive and expects Vani to cater to his every need, but pretends to be a perfect husband in front of friends and family. He prevents her from going out, working or furthering her studies, and expects her to be a full-time housewife. After an argument, Vani returns home and reveals her unhappiness to her parents. However, they send her back to Ravi after he charms them, and ask him to consider starting a family in order to occupy Vani’s time. Time goes by and Vani slowly begins losing self-confidence and becomes resigned to her fate. One day, Vani’s aunt and uncle unexpectedly come to visit her and suggest that she go back with them for several days to Delhi, in order to attend her college reunion. Ravi is unhappy but reluctantly agrees, since he will also be away for some time on a business trip.

Deep within a quaint rural village, an elderly man receives a card in the mail from his youngest grandson, Yogesh Patel (Harman Baweja). Over in Mumbai, Yogesh’s family consults an astrologer to learn if their eldest son, Jitendra “Jitu” Patel (Dilip Joshi), a debtor, will go to jail, and also give him Yogesh’s birthdate to learn his future. They are astonished to hear that Yogesh will inherit a fortune if he is married on the 20th of that month; the phone rings, and the family is overjoyed to hear that Yogesh’s grandfather has made him his sole heir.

Yogesh is successful and living in Chicago. He gets a text message from Jitu that his father Bharat (Anjan Srivastav) had a heart attack, and rushes to Mumbai. When he arrives, Yogesh learns that Jitu had lied to him about Bharat, but that Jitu owes a rich man 25 million rupees for gambling debts; if Yogesh does not marry on the 20th of the month, Jitu will go to jail. At first Yogesh is adamant he will not marry, but Jitu tells him that he also borrowed 15 million rupees from a mob boss; his parents are unaware of this. Yogesh is annoyed, but agrees to marry after the gangster threatens them. Yogesh’s uncle, Devu (Darshan Jariwala), subsequently posts a matrimonial ad with Yogesh’s photo, and 176 girls reply. Yogesh decides that he will meet one girl from each zodiac sign. Meanwhile, Devu’s wife Kanta asks Yogesh’s father to hire a detective – she suspects that Devu is cheating on her. When Bharat learns that the astrologer is also a detective, he hires him. The detective identifies Devu’s mistress as a woman named Anila Kamdar.

After Yogesh has met most of the girls, one of them, Sanjana (Priyanka Chopra), asks to talk to him privately. She says to him that a boy has agreed to marry her, but she is reluctant. She asks Yogesh to give her time to decide what to do about her boyfriend. He agrees, telling her about his problems with Jitu. Sanjana, touched that Yogesh will help her despite his own problems, hugs him. Devu walks in, and thinks he has interrupted them; Sanjana chases him, trying to explain. Tailing Devu, the detective is unaware that he had been with Anila at a hotel and sees him with Sanjana. Sanjana shows Devu a picture; when he says something supposedly demeaning, she becomes angry and tries to leave. Devu stops her, holding her while she cries before they leave in his car. The detective convinces Yogesh and his father that Devu is having an affair with Sanjana. Anila then comes downstairs, looking for Devu. Yogesh shows her the photos, telling her that Devu and Sanjana went to Khandala, a hill station near Mumbai. The detective tells Kanta this story, and they find Devu at a hotel with Sanjana. Devu thinks Yogesh betrayed him, and Yogesh thinks Devu is having an affair with Sanjana.

Ethan Mascarenhas is a former magician who is a quadriplegic. He becomes the Radio Jockey of an FM Station called Radio Zindagi. His show spreads magic, hope, and laughter through his irrepressible wit and humor to every listener and caller, making it difficult to imagine that this is a man who has been immobilized with a spinal injury for the last fourteen years. His nurse, Sofia D’Souza, has been accompanying him for the past twelve years.

On the fourteenth anniversary of his accident, Ethan decides to file an appeal to the court for mercy killing. Ethan takes the help of his best friend and lawyer, Devyani Dutta, to support his appeal. Devyani understands Ethan’s appeal and agrees to his reasoning and decides to support him in his cause. Surprising everyone with her stance, Ethan’s mother Isabel Mascarenhas also supports him in his petition, backing her son’s demand. Ethan’s physician, Dr. Nayak, who has consistently persuaded him to retract his case, finally relents to Ethan’s appeal when he realizes that the friend in him is much stronger than the medic. Meanwhile, a young man named Omar Siddiqui enters Ethan’s life to learn magic from him as he considers him to be the greatest of magicians. Impressed by his love for magic, Ethan agrees to pass on his legacy to Omar. Later, Omar confesses to Ethan that he is the son of Yassar Siddiqui, who happens to be responsible for causing Ethan’s accident. Ethan knew of this the entire time, yet that didn’t come in the way of passing his legacy to Omar.

On the day of verdict Ethan’s plea is rejected by the court, saying the legal code of the country cannot be violated in any circumstance. Ethan spends his time alone in his empty home, while Sofia was taken by her husband. When Sofia returns, she confesses to Ethan that she got the divorce and tells him that she will help with his euthanasia, whatever the consequences be as Ethan means more to her. On hearing her words, Ethan realizes how much Sofia loves him. He proposes to her and Sofia agrees.
